Where to eat, drink and visit during Sorrento Writers Festival

The inaugural Sorrento Writers Festival is kicking off on Thursday April 27 and running until Sunday April 30 2023. More than 100 renowned authors and speakers will be presenting at 90+ events, all just ten minutes from Camillo House’s front door.

Between sessions of witty repartee and impassioned conversation, you’ll want to refuel, digest the day’s events and make the most of your time on the Mornington Peninsula. So, we have assembled our insider’s guide of where to eat, drink, stay and visit during Sorrento Writers Festival.

Eat and Drink

Start your day by grabbing brekkie-on-the-go and the best coffee around at St Paul’s General Store.

For a casual lunch, visit Stringers Sorrento, a bright and breezy local icon that incorporates an Italian-inspired deli and grocer, authentic wood-fired Neopolitan pizza and freshly churned gelato.

As the sun goes down, cocktails at the The Conti call, followed by dinner at Bistro Elba. Serving up a taste of the French Riviera in a space that feels like a quaint, seaside holiday home; Bistro Elba never fails to impress with its menu of local seafood and produce.

View along the Bay Trail between Sorrento and Portsea

Visit

For a quiet moment during full days at Sorrento Writers Festival, book in for a restorative class at Ocean Beach Yoga. With floor-to-ceiling glass doors, this loft-style studio opens out onto the rugged treetops of the national park and the salty breeze carries with it the sound of waves crashing less than 400m away.

Or stretch your legs with a slow and leisurely stroll along the Bay Trail which travels from the Sorrento Pier, through Sorrento Park and inland past the majestic properties of Portsea. A short diversion can include the stretch known as Millionaire’s Walk between Lentell Avenue and Point King Road.

And should you fancy a little retail therapy in between sessions at Sorrento Writers Festival, browse your way through Coastal Living, White Story Beach House, Deb’s Boutique or Marlene Miller Antiques.
